Question about I and II Group JG 51

Hello guys,
My question about I and II Group JG 51 relates to an air raid by the 4th Shturmovik Aviation regiment made on Bobruisk-south airfield on 5 July 1941. The Soviets make different claims for the number of aircraft they destroyed in this raid...ranging from 20 to 32 Bf109s. Does anybody know what damage was actually done to the German aircraft on this field (if any)?

Thanks in advance for any help

this date 1 Bf 109 F-2 was destroyed in a enemy low level attack at the airfield Bobruisk-south - thats all. (Source GQM files).

Thanks Khorat,
Actually I'm not surprised as this information came from field orders on tactics to be used by Shturmovik units. The dates vary. Were there any large losses to I and II JG 51 (on the ground) between 1 and 9 July or reports of a particularly effective attack on Bobruisk south in that period?

Three from the 3./JG 51

Two Bf 109F-2s of the 3./JG 51 were damaged in a bombing attack on 3.July 1941 at Bobruisk, WNr.8308 (50%) and WNr.8328 (25%)

Bf 109F-2 WNr.6792 of 3./JG 51 was damaged 90% on 9.July 1941 in a low-level attack on Bobruisk-Süd.

Hope this helps, GRM

Actually this is a great help. The description of the raid comes from an NKO order dated 10 July 1941 out lining tactics that should be used in attacking German airfields. Two dates were given in two different accounts of the attack by 4th ShAP. One account gives the date as 28 June ( the 10th Flak Regiment took the field on 30 June, I/JG 51 arrived 1 July) and the other 5 July (NKO order dated 10 July). I've noticed in the past that wartime documents and orders from early in the war often misquote dates...and 3 July is probably the correct date, but obviously 4 ShAP did not destroy 20 to 35 Bf 109s on the field.

Thanks for the info!
