Identity of Luftwaffe Leutnant?

Hi all,

This portrait photo is a little confusing to me due to the fact that it has a name on the reverse as well as a name (I think) under the photo with a date 1942. I was wondering if any of our handwriting experts can tell me what is written in ink under the photo? I know the reverse says Karl Zoeller, Wiesbaden. Can anyone help?

Regards

Melvin

Hi Melvin,

Name on the back could also be "Kurt"

I think the second word under the photo is "gefallen" (KIA).

Hi Melvin

On the back is written :

Kurt Zoller Wiesbaden Rheinstr (means Rheinstraße, Rheinstreet)

The other one :

??? gefallen 1942

Regards from germany,

Rainer

A little trick - change this image what is showing the handwriting into a negative, so you can read it ;)

Many thanks Thomas, Rainer and Khorat for your help!

So could this Leutnant be Karl Zöller of JG53?

Did Karl pass away in 1942?

Thanks again for your input, it is really appreciated!

Kind regards,

Melvin
