I am looking for any information (and possibly images) on Hauptmann August-Wilhelm Bier, Gruppenkommandeur I./ZG1 October-1943 to April-1944.

Any help whatsoever will be very well received indeed.

13.10.43 Hptm., appt Kdr. of I./ZG 26 (to 11.43).
01.01.45 promo to Maj.

Unfortunately, Kracker's database has no further data about him.

On 10.Nov 1942 Hptm. A. Bier with BF Uffz. Hermann Bitrich both 2. Staffel ZG 1 emergency landed due to engine failure at Srowdnje with Bf 110 E-1 S9+IK W.Nr.3436
Bier was WIA. He was Staka 2. staffel.
At Stab I. ZG 1 form July 1943 - 13.Oct.1943

GK of Ergänzungszerstörergruppe (Braunschweig) from Feb 1944 to Apr 1944?

Hello John

My interest is simply because I recently acquired quite a large document grouping to a Bordfunker who served in ZG1 and ZG26, and the document for the Silber Front-Flug-Spange is signed by Bier.

I hope to find a picture of him from somewhere purely to use in the document display when the group is fully researched, as with all signed documents in my collection.

He died on 1st November 1980. Also I think he flew with 6./ZG76 at some point.
