One "Weisse 15" beached at Wissant

Hello,

sometimes ago we found the first picture on ebay without many details except a given date; October 1940.
Looking at my "unknown" pictures in an effort to put the last 1600 (around) ebay pictures in order I did find the second one; coming from an older ebay auction too....
For me it's the same plane
- White 15
- Late canopy
- MG fairings under wings clearly visible on both pictures
- Same amount of sand sprayed on left wing...
Not much more.. But we have the pilot on the second one! Any clue please???

Thanks for help

Cheers, Franck.

Hi Franck,
it looks VERY similar but...No pile of sand under left wing, rudder in different position, antenna wire looks different and last but not least, IMHO, different shape of "1" digit.

Hello,

Well; Hummm...
It's a white number,
It's same number style and concerning the sand pile under the wing and the rest:
The plane landed at low tide and has been carried higher on the second picture as shown by numerous foot steps... Hence the sand pile, elevon in different position and antenna cable either.
I maintain my thoughts and you have the right to not agree... Until further notice and/or picture.

Cheers, Franck.

I would say that is not tide but rain. Sand does not look that dimpled after the tide has gone out but does look like that after a quick rain shower. Sea is a long way away??

The 15 does look different 'white' from the cross so would have guess yellow 15 more than white 15.

15 are in different positions (albeit on different sides). Port side is further back than starboard side though could easily be in different locations on the same plane.

I believe only a couple of units had that style of '1'. Will have to look at the Classic books.

Bf109 front view looks further down the beach than the one from behind.

Bf109 from behind shows the skid marks in the sand.

Bf109 from behind - can't see straight prop but probably behind guy in white.

Both do have MG/FF cannons. (or at least cannons).

Probably the same aircraft but not 100% certain.

MS

Aircraft don't generally get moved by tides - they just get swamped and buried - as seen in other photos. Aircraft landing on beach at low tide would not be moved any distance at high tide. It is heavy - engine is heavy - as the water comes in it erodes below the aircraft and the engine and would gradually get buried.
