German secret projects in Norway
 

I am looking for books or articles in any language that discuss German projects in the North, including Sweden. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that there was anything more important to the Nazis in Norway than the Heavy Water plant for their nuclear weapons program.

Thank you, sir. I have read accounts that show the Germans had atomic bombs and U-Boats stationed in Norway with V-1 launchers and carrying compartments on deck. Also, there is a report that heavy water production was occurring in Germany through the Linse company. In the August 8, 1945 issue of the Washington Post, an article titled "Allies Seized German Atom Experts, Data." one should ask: How could these people be "experts" in such matters?

Hi Ed, in fact because of your prompting, I read that comprehensive Wikipedia article right through. I had seen the movie 'The Heroes of Telmark and was aware of what the movie was all about, but it was very informative to read the whole story of what happened and why during WW2.
There were no atomic bombs or there and the whole story is in the seemingly accurate Wikipedia article.

"In an article for the June 29, 1945 issue of the Washington Post, a report that originated from 21st Army Group headquarters outlines the frightening discovery that awaited Allied military personnel who came to occupy Norway after the German forces there surrendered:
R.A.F. officers said today that the Germans had nearly completed preparations for bombing New York from a "colossal air field" near Oslo when the war ended.
"Forty giant bombers with a 7,000 mile range were found on this base - the largest Luftwaffe field I have ever seen,' one officer said."

Research is difficult, dismissal is easy. Why raise the ire of the British or American public with such stories? The British expected atomic bomb attacks and had plans in place if they occurred. When was the German atomic project officially over from a "functional capacity"? Yet, we have this:

As Soviet intelligence teams were allowed in the America zone, the JIC* claimed that it was critically harming American interests:

"Unless the migration of important German scientists and technicians into the Soviet zone is immediately stopped, we believe that the Soviet Union within a relatively short time may equal the United States developments in the fields of atomic research and guided missiles..."
