Karl Frass

Does anyone have information on the death of this apparent Bordfunker in Aug 43?

Re: Karl Frass

Chris could this man be the one a Bf but not the same first name ; 11-8-1943 2/KG6, Raum Lentini, F, Flaktreffer Ju88A4 8863 3E+MK. Ff Ofw Georg Fothke, B Uffz Friedrich Hossmann,Bf Ogef. Josef Frass, Bs Fw Johannes Conradi all missing - Source Wir Flogen gen Westen,

Brian Bines

However the text page 124 says 'Uber Lentini wird die 3E+MK (144666) mit der Besatzung Ofw. Georg Fothke, 2/KG6 durch einen NJ abgeschossen' - apparantly observed by the Wipert crew.

Karl Frass Bf of 5/KG54 killed on Ubungsflug unknown cause at Ganserndorf on 4-8-1943, FF Uffz Heinz Imme, B Uffz Bernhard Hildebrandt, Bs Gef Eugen Trondle all killed. Ju88A4 B3+AN 1058 100%.

Re: Karl Frass

Thank you both very much - I was sent here from the Axis History Forum and found this totally by accident.

It is very much appreciated - my dad was chipper to finally find out the details on his uncle, I am back at home now and will scan in those Photos for you Chris. Hopefully get them to you on monday.

I will post separately to try and find some more details on his unit, as a funny coincidence - on wednesday when I got your email with his unit I quickly googled them and the first hit listed that they bombed RAF Odiham in 1940. I then had to rush off to the Simulator where I found, quite unusually, that I was about to fly a sortie from Odiham, rather than Benson!

Re: Karl Frass

A little update regarding my great uncle, I have written to the German defence ministry to get his records and have also scoured the family photo albums, finding a photo of his grave.
Rather confusingly the grave has his profession as pilot, rather than radio operator.....could this be a simple mistake or was he a actually a pilot?
