LANCASTER PD309 was recovered in BELGIUM!
Hello,
I have the pleasure to close the last chapter of this old topic http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...ancaster+PD309 by recovering the wreckage of Lancaster PD309 this Saturday; thanks to the brave gathered volunteers, a skilled crane drive and... the no so disgusting wet weather of this bright Summertime :D The recovery made an hit on the Belgian national TV http://www.rtl.be/videos/video/349189.aspx We recovered the 4 RR in quite good state but very few wings and fuselage parts from a deepth of about 4 m. Now, I hope to welcome the family of the Aussie pilot (the skilled and courageous F/O Clarence Roy PEGG DFC) in the near future. Thanks also to the TOCH forum members to unearth the truth about the real location of PD309. Best regards |

Clin,
Job well done. Crew were luckey and as far as I know all survived. I've problems to understand the French speaking text of the video. Is it correct that the crash location was about 8 km S of Beauchevais and the crew baled out in the Jodoigne area ? Regards, Henk. |

Yes, PD309 crashed near Sart-Risbart (a small village of Incourt), along the Longueville road.
