KU report. Help needed.

Looking for information regarding a "KU Report" # J 1497.
Date of incident is June 13th 1944.
P-47 crash near Le Mans.

Could anyone give me pointers as to where I could view a copy of this report, or a long shot,,does anyone actually have a copy of it?

Luftwaffe operations is way out of my comfort zone of the 8th USAAF I'm afraid.

Fingers crossed, and thanks in advance for any information that may be forthcoming.

Good afternoon Nigel !

Where did you got notice to this J 1497 report ?. In my catalogue of those reports, arranged day-by-day, I could not find a report numbered J 1497 for the whole month of June 1944.

This is uncommon since the J 14XX series of Luftgaukommando-reports fits perfectly into the time-frame June/July 1944.

Provide us with more information about your case in particular and perhaps a solution will be found. By experience I know, that not all J-reports show up in the catalogue. But this is very unusual and obviously other circumstances may have caused this fact.

All the best !

Hi Horst.
Thankyou for you reply.
The J number was passed onto me by a colleague. I will send him a link to this thread.

Information I have is as follows,

June 13th 1944.
P-47D-15-RE
61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group.
HV-? ( its the individual letter I'm very interested in tracing)
Pilot. Zbigniew Janicki. ( One of the Polish pilots flying on unofficial attachment to the 56th FG.) Killed.
MACR # 15086
Crash site Ruille-en-Champagne. About 12 miles west-south-west of Le Mans, between La Chantellerie and La Garenne.
Pilot buried at Le Mans Cemetery. Grave # 70.
( crash site information from Stan Bishops'/John Hey's book)

All the best,
Nige

Gents,

Try J 1683 (or 1583, typewriter must have been old).

Thunderbolt, same date, same place.

Thanks very much for the clarification on the number.

Hopefully that will eventually yield the aircraft code letter.

All the best,
Nige

A gentle "bump" in the hope that the updated J number will reveal any more information.
