'Float to top' feature, I am not convinced
Hi, Ruy and all.
As I cannot read the forums every day (even if I try to do so), the functionality in the new system that posts with new entries in them 'float' to the top of the forum is in my opinion 'not so great', especially in the forums with several posts every day. If one could keep the 'old' style we got used to, it would be relatively easy to catch up where You left off. As it is today, You would literally have to search through the entire forum to see what interests You, as the order of the threads seems to be by date and time of the latest post, thus they will be rearranged every time a new post is entered. I have taken the liberty to add a poll to this question Ruy, to see what people like, and if I am totally shot out of the sky, I will not whine about it again! And if it is some setting I can do as a user to get the stuff structured the way I like, please let me know! Regards, Andreas |
This is not a standard option with phpBB, sorry.
There are some possibilities by modding the forum, but these actions vary from simple to complex, depending on your knowledge of php etc. As a short term answer I can only advice you to use the option included in the lower screen display topic from previous... that can be adjusted to show only the latest posts ranging from a day to a year. For the time being this really is what you'll get in terms of functionality. phpBB 3.0 has been announced, so who knows what that will bring. |
