Re: 1./Ku.Fl.Gr.906 - Do.18 Oblt Dietrich
Hi,
the flyingboat was from 3./K.Fl.Gr.406. During an air sea rescue mission Do 18 was attacked by 4 Blenheim ca. 15 km off Calais. Uffz. Heinrich Thiermann (FF - pilot) and Olt.z.S. Max Dietrich (BO - observer) were both wounded. Do you have time of this engagement (you could answer me via PM). Regards Robert |

Re: 1./Ku.Fl.Gr.906 - Do.18 Oblt Dietrich
The aircraft was actually a Do 18G Werk-nummer 874 K6+KL of 3./406. This Staffel was at that time based in Schellingwoude/Amsterdam to perform Air-Sea rescue for Luftflotte 2. The aircraft did not receive much damage. It was back on unit strength on 18. September.
