ANR Losses

Does anyone have information on either one of these pilots.

20 February
Serg. Rosario Di Carlo (26 yrs) from I GC was lost over Reggio Emilia. (No details available)

22 February
Ten. Antonio Pesce (25 yrs) from I GC was lost over Udine. (No details available)

I have a website at anrhistory.weebly.com, which is a chronological history of the ANR fighter groups and contains an a/c profile page, video selection and blog. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jim

Re: ANR Losses

While I appeciate enthusiasm and enthusiasts (I've been one for so many years) I cannot but advise Jim to be more careful. First of all because his site is completely devoid of any reference to the sources - visual and documental - used (and to say that they are "many" is not a solution...) and secondly because clearly some of its sources are at least incorrect.

One of such example concerns the death of Ten. Fausto Filippi reported on 23 January 1944... well, it was 1945!

The data asked however concerns Serg. Magg. Rosario Di Carlo and Ten. Antonio Pesce:

S.M. Di Carlo died on 20 February 1944 on the Collio hills (near Gorizia, not Reggio Emilia!) crashing while testing a Macchi C.205.

Ten. Pesce died in combat on 22 February, while attacking a formation of B-24s headed for Regensburg and passing over the Friuli air space. He crashed near Moggio Udinese.

Hope these info can be of use. And I do hope my suggestions too...

Re: ANR Losses

Thanks for your support regarding both pilots and discovering the error on the date Filippi Fausto was lost, as well as, your advice on the website. A critical and expert view is always welcome.

Re: ANR Losses

Is there additional information regarding the combat that took place on the 22nd i.e. sorties, times, claims, additional losses?
