Essex B-26 crash ID sought
Hi all:
Seeking the ID (SN, unit) of a (presumed) 9th USAAF B-26 Marauder which crashed at 1145 hours on 13 August 1944 at Hill Farm, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex (E of Tolleshurst Farm, MR M370286). Entire crew of 7 baled out safely, aircraft "a complete wreck". TIA for any gen, BC |

Best estimate is 41-35263 of 322nd BG with crash site given as Malden. A typo for Maldon, Essex, which I believe isn't that far from Hill Farm.? Regards, Leendert |

From the book ''The Annililators'' 322nd.Bombardment Group (M) :- Mission to bomb road intersections in the Lisieux/Thibberville area. Crew baled out safe near Witham due to controls locked and fuel shotage, a/c crashed between Maldon and Tollesbury;- pilot 2/Lt Albert W. Smith c/p 2/Lt William E. Dow nav 1/Lt. J.K. Germain bom. 2/Lt Theodore A. Bunn eng. S/Sgt Robert V. Grubbs r/o T/Sgt. O.C. Brown t/gun S/Sgt R.A.
