Identity of air man?
Hi,
I have been amazed by the knowledge and detective skills of wxperts using this board but perhaps now I am asking an impossible question. I have just obtained some great photos of an airman's history but there is little information about him or his unit. The only firm information listed on the back of a photo is this one. Can anyone decipher who it is and what happened to him? http://www.it-service-mai.eu/ebayimg...08-24-023G.jpg http://www.it-service-mai.eu/ebayimg/2011-08-24-027.jpg Thanks Rick |
Re: Identity of air man?
Based on background paper and the eBay seller protection mark, does not it originate from ZG 26 album sold about 2 months ago on eBay ?

Re: Identity of air man?
Hi, Rick
First name 'Fritz' - often a short form of Friedrich. Last name starting with 'La......' Wonder if it could be Fritz Lammert of Störkampfgr. 4, but difficult to know based on these two photographs only? Have you tried removing a bit more of the old album page with a scalpel? Regards, Andreas B |

Re: Identity of air man?
I do not have the album. The seller sold individual lots of phtos but i do have these below which do mention a 4th Staffel. He also looks like he has been badly injured facially in the past. Does that help/

Re: Identity of air man?
The building is Great Gatchina Palace 50 km south from Sankt Peterburg (former Leningrad)This, with a sign of 4. Staffel, supports very well Andreas' suggestion of Fritz Lammert, because:
1943-02-10, 4. Störkampfstaffel Lfl. 1, He 46,75, Fl.Pl. Siwerskaja, Unfreiwillige Bodenberührung infolge vermutlich Bedienungsfehler. Bruch 95 %. F Uffz Lammert, Fritz, verletzt Bs Uffz Ahles, Kilian, verletzt Fluggast Gefr Sickmann, Johann, tot Gefr Sickmann von Res.Flakabt. 645. Matti |
Re: Identity of air man?
If it is this man is there any information on whether he survived the war or not?

Nothing more interesting to add .. except between the former Gatchina and the present Gatchina the place was called (among previous names) ... Krasnogvardeysk from August 1929 after Trotsky deportation and renamed Gatchina in January 1944. Less than 30km North from Siverskaya. Regards, Franck. |
