Flight Lieutenant Mitchell - 254 Sqn
Trying to ascertain his first name as the gentleman seems to appear in the ORB pages I have as just Flt/Lt Mitchell.
Any help would be of value. Yours faithfully, Andy Bird |

Re: Flight Lieutenant Mitchell - 254 Sqn
Hi Brian,
Many thanks for this, I can narrow my search tomorrow. Sadly the damage to his 'probable' He III with Fairclough and Taylor it only received 30 rounds confirmed from the 6,000 rounds fired from the 3 machines. L8786 had seventy 7.92 rounds pepper it. Best Wishes Andy Bird |
Re: Flight Lieutenant Mitchell - 254 Sqn
Hi Andy
I believe your 'Fairclough' should be Fairtlough, G.K. Cheers Brian PS: It seems like your man was Henry Maynard Mitchell, awarded DFC October 1940 as CO of 25 Squadron. See 'Men of the BoB' |
Re: Flight Lieutenant Mitchell - 254 Sqn
There is only one H.M. Mitchell on the Oct 45 Air Force List.
He is Wing Co Henry Maynard Mitchell DFC 90245 Regards Andy |
Re: Flight Lieutenant Mitchell - 254 Sqn
Wonder why he disappeared of the radar
Thank you all for your invaluable help. Yours Faithfully Andy Bird |
