Trying to ascertain his first name as the gentleman seems to appear in the ORB pages I have as just Flt/Lt Mitchell.

Any help would be of value.

His initials are H.M.

I have claims for him: 1/3rd share of He111 badly damaged 22/2/40; 1/3rd share of Ju88 damaged on11/4/40; He111 shared on 25/4/40; Do18 8L+LK of 2./906 on 4/6/40.

Hi Brian,

Many thanks for this, I can narrow my search tomorrow.
Sadly the damage to his 'probable' He III with Fairclough and Taylor it only received 30 rounds confirmed from the 6,000 rounds fired from the 3 machines.
L8786 had seventy 7.92 rounds pepper it.

PS: It seems like your man was Henry Maynard Mitchell, awarded DFC October 1940 as CO of 25 Squadron. See 'Men of the BoB'

There is only one H.M. Mitchell on the Oct 45 Air Force List.
He is Wing Co Henry Maynard Mitchell DFC 90245
