Fw. Seeling of Erprobungs Kommando Lärz

I would like to know the full and fate of Fw. Seeling, a Me 262 pilot of Erprobungs Kommando Lärz, who (according to Tony Wood's claim lists) claimed a Mosquito shot down on 27 October 1944 (probably nS654 of 540 Sqn RAF) and a B-24 on 21 November 1944.

Thanks in advance

Hi Laurent

I have him making two claims with Erpr.KDO.Larz

27th October 1944 Mosquito Thulendorf area 1345hrs
21st November 1944 B-24 Rostock area 1242 hrs 5000 metres

I have him killed when he crashed a He162 which he was transporting for I./Jg1 on 6th April 1945.

Thats all I have on him except his forename was Wolfgang.

Regards

Johannes

Re: Fw. Seeling of Erprobungs Kommando Lärz

I have had some correspondence with an individual in Germany who said that the information on Fw. Seeling's demise in the Kracker Archives was false. He actually interviewed Wofgang Seeling in the 90s(/) regarding his time at Larz. Ok Found the E-mail.

"Hello Carlos,

thank you very much for your reply. I didn't know before the Kracker Archive. Very interesting website, but it also seems to be with failures - at least with regard to Wolfgang Seeling:
I have been in contact with a Wolfgang Seeling in 1997. He was with Erprobungskommando Lärz in 1944 and he flew Me 262 at that time. I think we can exclude the assumption that there were two pilots with the same name at Lärz in the same period of time. However during my contact with Mr. Seeling we never talked about any operational flight and any score he may have claimed during such flight and we also did not mention what he did and were he was towards the end of the war. We only exchanged about his time at Rechlin. I am going to try and find out if he is still alive (what seems quite impossible, as he should be around 90 or so) but I know where his son lives.
Maybe I can find out something more.
If you are interested I will let you know the results.

On the other side I will have to contact the Kracker Archive to see where he got the information about Seeling MIA in April 1945 from.

Best regards
Christoph"

Can send someone his E-mail, if so desired.

BTW, his B-24 victory on November 21,1944 was B-24H-15, sn 41-28925, MACR 10407, 448th BG, 714 BS.
Both his victories were completely verified.

Thanks for the replies. I checked Monbeek's JG 1 history and the Gräbersuche website and there is no Seeling listed in either for 6 April 1945.

Hi Christoph, I have been working on a story about 2LT Richard E. Drowne, the Bombadier-Navigator on the B-24H 41-28925 which was shot down by Fw. Wolfgang Seeling on Nov 21, 1944. You mentioned that you interviewed Mr Seeling and that you could contact his son. Would it be possible for you to put me in touch with him. I am presenting a story about this on Memorial Day, May 26, 2014 and many of the 2LT Drownes family will be attending. I would love to email with Mr Seeling or his family prior to my story. Thank you. LTC Kevin Major, NH
