Z1007 shot down 16 June 1943
 

Hi guys

I have a claim for the destruction of a Z1007 by a Beaufighter on 16 June 1943, probably Eastern Med.

Any ideas on fate/unit/crew, please?

Also, on an unknown (by me) date in August 1943, a Z506 was claimed shot down by a Beaufighter. Any ideas?

No! The claim was made by 46 Squadron, as was the August claim for a Z.506B.

From the history of the 30° Stormo by Maurizio Circi, edited by the Italian AF Historical Office:

On 16 june 1943 a CZ.1007 bis out for an offensive recce mission west of Cyprus didn't come back to Rhodos:
Ten. Col. Pil. Castelnuovo Grimaldo, S.Ten. Pil. Marino Salvatore, Serg. Arm. Fusco Antonio, Serg. Mot. Mezzabotta Nello, Av. Sc. Marc. Trebbi Alberto, Av. Sc. Mot. Ineguale Armando.

Search operations between Capo Anamar and Adalia Gulf were useless.

On 24 june news arrived about the fate of the bomber: after having suffered some attacks by enemy fighters it had to land in the sea in Antalja Gulf (Turchia): all the crewmembers left the wreck with lifeboat and were interned at Antalja.

No details about CZ.506
