Sabotage at Bordeaux/Merignac ?
A shot in the dark perhaps! On 5 Feb 1941 FW200C-3 Condor F8+AH W.Nr.0042 on fire, crashed in Ireland. The following day another FW200 reported that its inner left motor was out, in position 52.20N 12.20W.
A former KG40 crewman told me that they suspected sabotage at Bordeaux. Has anyone any evidence or reports of such happenings. Regards to all. Tony K |
Re: Sabotage at Bordeaux/Merignac ?
I think we are pretty sure that the KTB for I./KG 40 for early 1941 no longer exists, so I checked BA-MA's RL 21 holdings to see if the KTB for the Fliegerhorstkommandantur at Bordeaux-Marignac, namely Fl.H.Kdtr. A 9/VII (Jul 40 – Dec 42), might have survived, but regretably it did not. The only other possibility would be the station Abwehr III records, but those did not survive either.
