... and JFV, Teil 4-I of course! #17 there is another picture of that plane in Falcon's site but it's private; hence no access! You can get it in Luftwaffe Im Focus N°6. So it's a Bf109F-4 definitly; "Gelbe 10" of 9./JG 52. See (for who is able to do it) the overpainted StKz first letter - an M or N - just in front of the "1" and the dark camouflage spot just behind the emblem. Pilot was said to be Lt. Friedrich Brückmann (doesn't mean He's on the present picture) and since there is a date - February 1942 - we can assume that this picture and the LIF N°6 one where taken either in Charkow or Tarangog. Comments: 1/ The octane triangle is blurry but the second sign is broad enough to be a "3". More, there is a huge riveted reinforcement band on karmann wing link: A Bf109F-1. 2/ On the present picture the yellow cowling and the fuselage band are very clear comparing with the octane triangle yellow. Whatever, the camouflage painting on top cowling seems to be a constant on JG 51 Bf109F. No Unit emblem - which is not rare, if not common. And a Name writen on cowling. 3/ The picture in Falcon's site let us see a gun-camera. It's not a stain on film. Last, at least, most probably the picture(s) has been taken during winter 1941-1942... Or it was a fierce survivor! Why not??? Tschüss, Franck. |

No it's not VI+.. as written by the seller. Letters are situated well back from the cross and there is a wheel fairing on top of the wing ... Exit G-2. Better VP+?? or VN+?? (Try B, D, E etc...) the second letter being partialy overpainted. I think we are facing a Bf109G-6(R6) in the batches 410xxx or 411xxx As for the unit, I have no clue; Spinner may be one but I've no idea! Cheers, Franck. |

Yesterday, in my last post, I wrote something so stupid and wrong that I wonder why no one did dare to put a comment ... Of course; you know every thing on every subject; no time to loose.. ;). Nevertheless... The big antenna mast doesn't point to a G-6 in the 410xxx or 411xxx batch. :o So, I did take time to look better and I did find the following picture. I'm not pretending it's the very same plane because the first two letters of the StKz don't appear on the said picture. But the top blade bending aspect and the spinner match pretty well. Effectively, instead of VP+?? we can have a VN+??, i.e. a Bf109G-4. More, the seller did point for a JG 3 or a JG 52 machine. I think I can't do more and better. Tschüss, Franck. |
