Blenheim L9214 and P6926
 

Bonjour,

I hope one expert will answer those two questions:
- Is there any photo of Blenheim No. L9214 (VE-?) on her belly near Sedan?
- I am also looking for a photo of Blenheim No. P6926 (TR-?)?

There were shot down at Sedan on May 14th 1940. If you have any question about May and June 40, I could help you by providing photos or information as to thank you...

I've got two photos of a belly landed Blenheim VEoJ in the EOE Data Base. Don't have a date for it. The plane obviously made a good belly landing and then the cockpit area burned out, probably by crew. Could this be L9214? Don't have a date or details, so don't know serial.

For the second a/c, I've got several photos of 59 SQ Blenheim crashes/burned out wrecks (including TRoU, and TRo? captioned "Poix 15.6.40"), or a/c in a salvage dump during the WC (TRoE). None of these have visible SN, so I have no way of knowing if these could be the aircraft you are seeking.

Thank you Larry for information... I have also those photos...

1. VEoJ belly landed at Sainte-Vaubourg on May 14th 1940 : P6889
2. Blenheim of No. 59 squadron at Poix were probably found on an airfield nearby... The one, I am looking for, was on her belly, probably burnt as the crew buried close was not identified (also shot down on May 14th 1940)...

There should be photos of the Blenheim VE L9214 as she was on her belly near a cattle (big house) and a road...: I don't understand why there is no photo...

THe photo of 59 SQ Blenheim TRoU was not the one at Poix, but shows a Blenheim that appears to have made a good belly landing, and then the front was burned out. It is from the starboard side with a line of trees behind it. It fits your description, but probably so do several other 59 SQ losses. I can send you a digital scan if you'd like to look at it. If this isn't the Blenheim crash that you're looking for, I'd like to get a good ID on it anyway. SN is not visible but codes as TRoU are quite clear.

This is a good idea... It would be a pleasure to help you to identify this photo if I can ...

Here a photo of a Blenheim shot down apparently near Sedan: I wonder if this Blenheim could have belly landed and then her bombs exploded... Have you other photos of that Blenheim?

I have identied all Blenheim crash sites near Sedan. In fact only those mentioned in Peter Cornwell's book. But what is wierd is that I have two more unidentified Blenheim...

1. One at Donchery

Those two Blenheim were shot down between may 1940 and May 1941...

Is there other Blenheim shot down in the large region of Sedan after May 14th 1940?
