German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
Hi to all,
On the reverse of some original photographs I have recently purchased is some script which I unfortunately cannot read. I Believe the chap in question is Guenter/Guenther? He was a Bordfunker of I believe I/NJG2. The chap is also pictured with his crew beside R4 + GK, can anyone tell me more about this particular Ju 88? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Re: German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
#1)"Zum Andenken aus meiner Zeit in Reinfelden. Von Dein(sic!)Bruder Günther"
#2)"In guter Stimmung - aus meiner Bordfunkerausbildung. Dein Bruder Günther" #3)"10.April 1944 Die Veloban(?)" Veloban = Velo-Bahn? |
Re: German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
#3 Could perhaps be "Die Verlobten" (I Promessi Sposi)(= (but no "r" seems to have been written -> mistake?) meaning "the betrothed" or "The fiancés" . According to Wikipedia, this was a book, a historic novel, from Alessandro Manzoni, published in 1842 which was translated to the German language many times and republished in 1923. A quick summary overview of this article put this book to an equal level as books from Goethe.

#3) "Die Verlobten" - might be, but the"r" is missing...

Quote:
#1) Reinsehlen, Günter (without "h") #2) IMHO more likely "In guter Erinnerung" Regards Rasmussen |
Re: German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
The captions read as follows:
# 1: Zum Andenken aus meiner Zeit in Reinsehlen - von Dein Bruder Günter ( grammatical mistake - it should read: Von Deinem Bruder Günter ) # 2: In guter Erinnerung an meine Bordfunkerausbildung - Dein Bruder Günter ( Dein Bruder correct in this form ) # 3: 10. April 1944 - Die Velobten ( most likely a spelling mistake, as there is no German word "Velobten", but only Verlobten, the meaning of which has been outlined above. ) Hope this helps Regards Jochen Prien |
Re: German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
In 2./NJG 2 there was in spring 1944 Bordfunker Uffz Günter Haßler, who died on 28 May 1944 with Ju 88R-2, 751084, 4R+OK.
Could be this guy? Matti |
Re: German script on reverse of photos - Help please!
Many thanks to all for helping! Matti is 100% correct to state that the Bordfunker in question is indeed Günter Hassler! I found in my files a copy from the DRK loss list for I/NJG2 and there in front of me was Günter. A mystery foto album now identified I think!
