Soviet A-20 III: Four man crew?
 

Some cases of human losses @ OBD indicate that four men were lost in some of these planes. One example shows a Kapitan, a St.Leitenant and two St. Sershants.

Is it possible that there were one pilot, two rear-gunners and one bombardier used in the VVS' Bostons?

there are some written accounts of the VVS using the lower aft gun position.
(something the USAAF hardly ever did)
I guess they liked having the additional coverage.

Soviet Bostons eg. in Hungary always had four crewmen onboard in 1944-45. In fact in 1944-45 it was the typical even on the A-20Gs, where the nose weapons have been removed for the space of a field mod. navigator cockpit. A pilot, navigator/bombardier, radio-op. gunner in the upper turret and a gunner in the lower position. (at least in the Bomber Regiments - or 'BAP's)
