Hptm Ernst Zechlin

Hi Folks,
Following a query from a 149 Sqn relative:
Concerning loss of Stirling EH943 on a mission to Laon, France on 22/23 April '44. Kill credited to Hptm Zechlin.

On Kracken Archives, Magnus gives 10 kills, Boiten gives 8 Kills, two on 22/23 Mar '44 (Halifax and Lancaster), whilst Tony Woods gives Zechlin a single Stirling over Dusseldorf on the same date. Credit to Zechlin comes from LB so probably Chorley (?? I am missing the 1944/5 books )

Can anyone confirm that he did bring down EH943, please? Any verifiable "gen" appreciated.

Re: Hptm Ernst Zechlin

Thanks for that, Jim.

So I can deduce that as he was operating around Dusseldorf on that date, he was not responsible for the loss of EH943 as it came down in Northern France.

Thanx Doug, As I am sure you appreciate, anything that sheds light on the participants in an air combat incident is NEVER a waste :)

Thanx again.
