Ltn Helmut Sandgaard

Hi guys

In my BLUE ON BLUE Volume 1, I show observer Ltn Helmut Sandgaard as wounded aboard He59 D-ASUC flown by Fw Georg Niwiadomski of SeenotfluKdo.3 on 28 July 1940. This agrees with TBoB T&N.

However, Brian Bines points out that this airman is shown as wounded aboard He59 DB+KB flown by Fw Heiz Tiedemann on the same date!

Obviously wires have been crossed somewhere along the line. Can anyone clarify, please?

Brian,

My E-Mail may have mislead you Sandgaard was wounded on 28th. July 1940, the GQM attachment I sent you shows final his loss on 3rd July 41. I notice the attachment did not include the year. Sorry for any confusion over this,
