Books i would like to see
 

It's getting around xmas time and I am dreaming of books I would like to read one day on the Luftwaffe aircraft. operational histories of the following: Me 210/410, He 177, Fw 200, Fw 189, Hs 126, Do24,Bv 138, Do18, Ar 196, Do17, Do 217, He 111. Someone conected with Ospry could do one without two many problems in one book except for the He 111 which would need two volumes.

I'd recommend a keyword search on amazon.com to see what's already out there. For example, there's this title on the operational use of the He-111:

More detailed information about He-111s operating with specific bomber groups would mean getting books about the history of that particular group.

No disrespect James but I would rather not Osprey, or Mushroom for that matter as the small format is so annoying on so many different fronts.

I could think of a few aircraft with quite poor coverage, such as the Ar 96 one of the most produced German aircraft, Ar 66, Ar 68, DFS Gliders, He 51 virtually nothing, Do 22, Do 26, Fw 58, Fw 200 (still await the difinitive book) Go 145 (one of the most produced aircraft of all time), Go 242 and Go 244, He 45 and 46, He 59, Hs 123 (yes there are some books on this a/c but nothing definitive on this charismatic aircraft), Ju 86 again some books but no complete history, Ju 188 no in depth study, Si 204 some books but nothing 'meaty' on unit usuage.

Some of these are undoubtably 'obscure' aircraft in terms of combat but without whom the Luftwaffe would not have been able to operate. Of them all the He 51 seems to me to be the most obvious ommission book wise considering its role in the early Jagdwaffe, Spain and then in the Jagd Schulen.

Yet we have reams on the Me 163, Me 262, Do 335, Ta 152, He 219, Mistel and post-May 1945 'blue print' aircraft. All of which had very little impact on the course of the war, perhaps with the exception of the Me 262.

1) Squadron-Signal - In Action n02 - Luftwaffe (Part 2) has some pages
2) Hs 126 by Avia Press The only complete book but in Polish!!!!!
3) Aufklaerer Vol1-Luftwaffe Reconnaissance Aircraft & Units 1935-41 has a section
4) Aufklaerer Luftwaffe Reconaissance Aircraft & Units 1935-45 (Hikoki Publications) has a section.
5) Hs 126 Mushroom Models. Small format tiny pictues good attempt but awful format

But no complete history in English. Amazing considering the pivitol role this aircraft played in the early Blitzkrieg!!

I'd definitely love a book with full test reports on the major LW types. A full technical and handling analysis of the B&V 138 would be most welcome too. A full book on major German piston engines, with an engineering analysis e.g. why the DB 605's maximum rpm limit was so low (according to the DB 605A manual, if the Notleistung rpm was exceeded by more than 2%, the engine was to to be removed and sent for factory inspection whereas the Merlin's limit was 20% and most Allisons over 30%).

I have this book (from the Author) and it's really an excellent one. A bit weak on the operational side, though.

I'd also like to see in English those books published under the name "Luftfahrt Dokumente". I don't know if there were more than one but at least the Ar 234 volume, full of design documents, was excellent.
