New/unknown Ju52 emblem
Merry Xmas to all HoHoHo etc
This emblem is from a Ju 52/3m on eBay here. Cannot find anything like it? On the rear is Putzig-Ramel POLEN 10/06/1940....I assume a location in Poland, but not one that I can find. Ian |
Re: New/unknown Ju52 emblem
Putzig (now Puck) was in Prussia until it became part of Poland as a result of the Treaty of Versailles. There was an airfield there.
But I cannot help with the emblem on the Ju 52 as it is indiscernible. Merry Christmas from a very cold NH, USA, GRM |
Re: New/unknown Ju52 emblem
Thanks for the information...a little further research showed that BFS 5 operated from this airfield with Ju52s in 1939-40. The emblem I have for this unit is a blind-folded bull riding through a number five. This is not (exactly) this emblem.
However the bull is carrying a shield, and this shield matches the Ju 52 photo. The emblem (Ketley Rolfe #738) is too small to see exactly what is on the shield, but this photo would therefore seem also to be an emblem of BFS 5. It would be nice to see a clearer version to work out what is on the shield! Merry Xmas Ian |
