Bf109G (19201) 2.(F)/123 lost 4 September 1943

Hi guys

This particular loss has been mentioned previously, but can anyone add more?

The recce Bf109 ditched off the coast of Crete (distance unknown, pilot unknown) apparently due to 'engine trouble'. The pilot was rescued (by what means?) Time unknown.

On this same date, a Spitfire of 7SAAF failed to return after the pilot called Tally Ho! (1750) when about to engage a recce aircraft some 50+ miles from El Gamil (Egypt).

Might the two have engaged?

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian,

There is no more than that in my papers

04.09.43 Bf 109-G 4, (4U+HK, W.Nr. 19201) 100%, Notlandung See südl. Kreta, Pilot von der Seenot gerettet

A happy new year

Thanks guys

So, we haven't ruled out the possibility that the two met.

Most interesting.

Cheers
Brian

PS: Byron, has your book been published?

John

I examined Charles Aubusson`s publication "Les yeux de Kesselring", didn`t found the KZ there. In case of it`s absence in the lists of Quartiermeister 6, i can`t remember where else i could find it. Sorry.
