Do17 / Do217 W. Nr.1215 - info needed

Hey,

I have a relic from a aircraft, and it has some hand-written info. It is hard to read, but 100% it indicates:

Do17
W N. 1215

As far as I know, 1215 was a Do217. Is it possible it was a Do17 that was upgraded?

Any additional loss info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA
;)

Mike

Mike

The Dornier WNr list is fairly comprehensive up to WNr 1000 (at least the list that I have made), but then the problems start.

I have WNr 1215 listed as a Dornier 17Z-3, but according to Volker Koos the WNr 1001 to 2000 were reserved for the Dornier Wismar production (which looks mostly to be licence production of He 111 and Junkers W.34)

Cheers

Mike,
the Do 17 Z-3 WNr. 1215 was built by Siebel i nHalle in January 1940 according to the Dornier Lieferplan.

Norbert

That was interesting Norbert

Do you have the full WNr of the Siebel produced Do 17?

Mike, any idea as to where the relic came from? Do 17 WNr. 1215 is a 'hole' in my database, but if from a loss prior to Sep-40, it's not unusual that the WNr. was not reported. On the other hand I do have a 217 loss with the same WNr. -

Do 217E-4, 1215, Heise, Ltn. Erwin, , I., I., KG 2, , , BK+ID, , 16-Oct-42, Crew killed in crash during training flight. Took off from Fl.Pl. Gilze Rijen., , Lfl.3/Kanal, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #7)-Vol.11; Balke, Der Luftkrieg in Europa, II, p.443, , bei Middelburg, 100%, H, B Uffz. Friedrich Bickel, Bf Gefr. Christel Kaufmann & Bs Gefr. Kurt Liebske, ,

Hello guys,

Do 17 Werknummer 1215 was reported at Firma Anschütz at Hagenow on 27. Jul 1944. No further information. Source is a list in Ultra in Hw5/546.

At Hagenow there was a large Luftwaffe airfield. "Anschütz" is the name of a famous German manufacturer of sport-guns. Some sort of weapon-testing or a simple liason aircraft? Perhaps Nick Beale can help us with more infos from Ultra-files.

Greetings

Carl
