eBay pic Bf109 (JG53) & Do17 (Aufkl.Gr.122?)accident
 

At eBay here there is a photo of a Bf109 which appears to have had a ground incident with a Do17Z. The Do17 appears to have already been stationary. The Bf109 has obviously suffered considerable damage.

The seller claims that the Bf109F is of 5./JG53 and the incident occurred at Comiso in 1942. No information is provided for the Do17Z. There is an emblem, but it is difficult to see. It looks a little like Stab./Aufkl.Gr.122, but not sure that they had Do17s at this time?

Are there any other details of this incident?

Bf 109F-4 WNr.7343, Uffz. Gerhard Kitzenmaier of 5./JG 53
14.February 1942 at Comiso, 70% damaged.
Injured in Fehlstart due to pilot error. Collided with Do 17 of KG77.

Many thanks. Its always good to tie a paper record to a photo. I note that parts of KG77 were in Comiso at this time. The background of the Do17Z emblem is light, but probably not white, so my guess would be an aircraft of III./KG77.
