FuG 217J Neptun equipted ME109G-6/ASN

Hello All,

I was wondering if there are any other fotos of the FuG 217J Neptun Radar equipted ME109G-6/ASN as seen here http://www.me109.info/display.php?la...otonummer=2600 and the colour profile shown on page 17 in the book Messerschmitt Bf-109 Late Versions (Mushroom White Series 9110) and pg. 93 of Messerschmitt Bf 109 p2. F to K variants. I just looking to confirm it this was actually marked as weisse ' 7 + -' (can not see the number in the foto), and possibley get a W.Nr. for this aircraft. As always, thanks for any information provided. :)

Hallo Oberst,

To my knowledge, this is the only known photo of that machine. Actually, you can definitely see the upper horizontal bar of the "Weisse 7" just above the leading edge of the port wing; the tactical number is thus ascertained, as its appurtenance to II./NJG 11. No W.Nr. known yet to my knowledge; maybe one of us has the W.Nr.'s of all the machines found at Jüterborg-Waldlager ?.

Cheers
Marc

PS: Did anybody notice the machine in the background ? It's wavy wing leading edges camouflage identifies it as an Mtt Regensburg product; the position of the D/F loop, barely visible through the Erla Haube, indicates possibly a Bf 109 K-4.

Hello Marc my friend,

I don't know, but when I invert the colours of the picture, I see the top of a angular '3'. I'm 99% sure of it. Maybe somebody else could confirm?

Yes, the 'K' in the background would be interesting to find more information on it. :)

Possibly related to the machines pictured in Mr. Beaman's "Bf 109 in Action" pt 2? White 43 and white 44 (wnr's 130369 and 130342)seen at Fassburg. Photos also around of white 47...

There is a book that I believe provides the most comprehensive data about radar equipment installed on bombers and fighter aircraft. It is titled: Radarkrieg und Nachtluftverteidigung über Berlin 1939 bis 1945, by Helmut Bukowski. Not to mention radar used in ground installations.

There is a photo of a Bf 109 on page 221 which appears to be a G type. Based on my translation, the FuG 217 J1 "Neptun J1" antennas on it are being calibrated at the airfield Werneuchen in Speptember 1943. It carries the code PP+NO.

Yes, thank you gentlemen. 'White 3" seems very interesting. Would like more information on that one. Did it also have the Neptun radar? Hard to tell from that picture.

I do not have the book 'Radarkrieg und Nachtluftverteidigung über Berlin 1939 bis 1945'. I was wondering if it would be possible to post a picture of the 109?

Thanks.

Greetings Gentlemen

sorry to some members of not returning mails as I have not been home for quite sometime

enough of that, the pic shown will be used in a future title along with other 109G-6's with Neptun. Displayed is a Bf 109G-6 of 4./NJG 11. this in no way is related to the G-10's of NSGr 20 white 43, 44, etc. used in ground attack missions and are not night fighter types.
