A tiny piece of history...and a question?
 

Good evening!

Several years ago i got hold of a propellers hub/boss from a downed Ju 88 in Great Britain. With it was the information, that it was belonging to a Ju 88 A-5, Wnr. 5151 and the code F1 + GH. It crashed on the night og April 19. 1941, killing all the crewmembers.
Then some years later i got a deathcard picturing one of these members, Ofw. Wolfgang Haselsteiner, a very exiting and rare find, i think.
I then visited the crewmembers graves in Cannock Chase and now i need help to "complete the circle".
The crew were
Ofw. W. Haselsteiner
Fw. H. Burkart
Ogr. B. Kalmus
Ogr. R. Scheithauer

My question is: Who were pilot, observer, gunner and radioman of these names? I haven't been able to find the answers to this.

Observer: Obergefreiter. Rudolf Scheithauer 71034/117 Killed (Born 24.10.1918 in Flöha.)

Radio/Op: Obergefreiter. Bruno Kalmus 71034/118 Killed (03.01.1914 in Goldap.)

Gunner: Oberfeldwebel. Wolfgang Haselsteiner 71034/107 Killed (Born 25.11.1912 in Haibühl.)

I found this site while researching my Great Uncle, Wolfgang Haselsteiner, who was shot down near London in 1941. The link provided by RSwank was excellent, but I discovered today that it was discontinued due to money issues. Are there any other sites that provide the type of info. contained in the Aircrew Remembrance Society? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Bob, The Aircrew Remembrance Society is still alive and kicking, the reason you have been given, presumably by the Young brothers is a lie! We did not seperate due to money. They wanted to turn our remembrance site into a scrap book looking entity and David and I were not happy with that. The young brothers have so far refused to give us back our domain name, instead they use it to direct people to their new site, I wouldn't trust that pair at all or even go near them again with a ten foot barge pole!

We are currently contructing our site ourselves, we have a lot of learning ahead of us but at least we will have control over our own site and material. Of Course Wolfgang and his crew will be added to our site in due course. As you know I do have a very nice portrait photo of Burkart and some additional photographs of the excavation/recovery of the aircraft.
