Damaged Aircraft Collected on 17 August 1940 - Information Please?
“17.8.40 The Undermentioned Aircraft were reported crashed, Crash Inspectors were sent, and Crash Parties were dispatched to salve (when available)”
Blenheim L9460 Blenheim R3632 [These two Blenheims are in addition to the four which Ross McNeill lists on the ground] Spitfire L1068 at Kenley Hurricane R4195 at West Malling Spitfire N3230 at Hawkinge Hurricane N4188 near Tangmere Hurricane P3961 at Hawkinge Spitfire L1038 at Hawkinge I have found information for about two thirds of the list of aircraft salvaged, traced to a Squadron, a date of incident and a Pilot. Any help with the others above please, along with the information source? Mark |

R4195;- 111 squ, 15/8/40, damaged by return fire from Do17's over Thames Estuary, 3.00pm. Landed West Malling. Pilot;- Sgt W.L. Dymond, unhurt.
N4188 ?? Not a Hurricane, a Fairey Albacore. R4188 was a 111 Squ aircraft. P3961;- 111 squ, 15/8/40, damaged in glycol system during attack on Do17's over Thames Estuary, 3.00pm, Landed at Hawkinge. Pilot;- F/O H.M. Ferriss, unhurt. |

L1068, 64 Sq. Damaged by cannon fire in combat 16/8. Pilot: P.J. Simpson.
