airfield Marijewka as absprungplatz for JG3

Gentlemen,

Any ideas on this discrepancy: On July 10, 1942 on the second half of the day elements of JG3 started moving from Gorshetschnoje airfield to Marijewka after half a day of fierce fighting against 2 VA in Voronezh area. Marijewka, according to Prien's II/JG3 history is "an airfield about 30 km. northwest of Rossosh, near Olkhovatka" p. 139, "The airfield was located 5 km north of the town of Maryevka and 9 km northwest of Olkhovatka, Grid Square 35 East 91/3/8" p. 156. At the same time in JFV 9 III in the folded map the same airfield Marievka marked at PQ 98 3... between Rowenki and Taganrog, that is much to the south from the first location.
Where is a mistake?

TIA

There seem to be two with similar spelling:

Mariewka (RUSS) (e. Maryevka, Mar’yevka) (c. 47 35 04 N – 39 02 49 E)
General: landing ground (Landeplatz) in W Russia 59 km NW of Rostov.
Remarks:
11 Jul 42: bombed – 2 x Bf 109 F-4s from Stab/JG 3 and 3 x Bf 109 F-4s from II./JG 3 damaged.

Marijewka (RUSS) (e. Mar’yevka, Mariyevka) (c. 50 44 11 N – 38 21 50 E)
General: landing ground (Landeplatz) in W Russia c.25 km NW of Rossosh (Rossoh’). Not to be confused with Mariewka (Mar’yevka/59 km NW of Rostov).

Larry was faster ;)

Anyway, here my answer:

A small tidbit: There was a dwelling called Marjewka as described near Rossosh, see attachement.

But the other Marjewka can also be found, ca. 15km S of Rowenki...

One question is: Why should II./JG3 "only" move ca. 70km SE "around Voronesh"?

Hi Larry and Joerg,

Thank you for answers. However, I know that two Mariewka airfields and even more with the same name. The question is where is a mistake according to the German documents used by Mr. Prien.
BTW, JG3 could not suffer losses at Marijewka in Rostov area on July 11, as judging by Soviet documents and their own claims it should be located near Rossosh, otherwise all the claims starting from the second half of the day July 10 and up to July 13 should be thrown in a rubbish bin as unsubstantiated.
