Yet another different perspective? Must be the way that publishers think they can market BofB books nowadays. I have just read for a publisher a manuscript on the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain-another new perspective. I am afraid it was not especially when it appeared that other books (such as mine) had been used for the "many first hand accounts" (which turned out to be no more than 5)!

I understand Chris. If you click on the word Preview just below the cover image, you can read enough of the book to determine if the author is on to something. It is clear to me that that the words "stolen history" do not accurately reflect what were obvious misidentifications of aircraft and standard wartime censorship designed to keep morale high, and to also keep the Germans guessing about the actual impact of their air attacks on British morale.

I think we have seen stuff from this author before.

Wasn't he the writer who made much of the reliance of British pilots on German ASR in 1940?

As I recall, some of the stuff I researched about him and his writings was...well...distinctly curious.

I think in his writing on contemporary defence issues he's adopted the role of scourge of a complacent establishment. The synopsis of this book seems to follow on from that.

Reading the synopsis for this "new" one it sounds very much rehashing of existing facts.

The assessment that the British attitude to the War was integral to staving off defeat in the Battle of Britain would, I have thought, been second knowledge.

Still doesn't change the fact that the Few were at the sharp end tangling with the Luftwaffe everyday.

Don't think I'll be picking this one up.
