Do217 5./KG100 + Hs293
Hi guys
I'm seeking information regarding the five Do217/Hs293 aircraft that operated from Kalamaki (Greece) between 24 October-10 December 1943. In two separate attacks they damaged HMS Rockwood and sank HMS Dulverton in November 1943. Any ideas on the crews involved and the Staka? Cheers Brian |

This book might help.

Thanks Nick
I shall get a copy. A new title to me! Incidentally, the Stafka was Hptm Wolfgang Vorpahl. Cheers Brian |
Re: Do217 5./KG100 + Hs293
I think I shall add this to my book shelf also. I recently bought a small group with a Leistungsbuch to a member of KG 100 using Hs293. He has at least 3 sinkings with the weapon in 1944 around the Anzio.
Thanks! Ian |
Re: Do217 5./KG100 + Hs293
The KG100 shows 5th Staffel under as you say Hpt Wolfgang Vorpahl, the book mentions the attack on the Rockwood on the 11.11th and that Do217's of 5/100 were damaged/destroyed in a bombing attack on Kalamaki on 15.11.

The captain of HMS Rockwood was Samuel Lombard-Hobson. In his book “A Sailor’s War”, ISBN 0-85613-529-1, he describes the events of that day. Page 168-170.
