A real photo alright but faked by the Germans to show Spitfire attacking the Dornier. In fact the Spifire is a captured example.
The give away is the position of the roundals which the Germans have so carefully painted in the middle of the wing where you might find the crosses on a Bf109 but quite wrong for a Spitfire. Could this be Spifire N3277 that was captured after a forced landing in Cherbourg area on 15th August 1940? |

Dear all,
I seem to remember that the location of the roundels were in fact original as the captured Spitfires was a PRU Spitfire which had these odd placed roundels for a while... Regards, Hans Nauta |
