ME 109 loss, 23 June 1942

I have been doing some research regarding Spitfire W3644. Following on from info I got from this forum regarding the Ramrod 23 mission on 23 June 1942 I discovered that 107 squadron's ORB mentions in the comments section that a ME 109 was seen diving into the sea. I can not find any ME 109 records that state that one went missing on that day. Can anyone help me?

there are several 109 losses this day but mostly due to accident - maybe misidentification with a Fw 190 ?

I think you could be right regarding a FW 190 as the Spitfire profile is so distinct.
