Re: losses over the Aegean
Hi,
I think Brian has the correct ones identified with regards to the losses on the 29.5.1943: http://www.aviationhistory.no/ref_db...?lossid=131534 http://www.aviationhistory.no/ref_db...?lossid=132107 Regards, Andreas B |
Re: losses over the Aegean
Just a follow up on Ar196 no.298 Luft.QMs report dated 22-9-43 has that on 19-9-43 Ar196 no.298 coded D1+IH was shot down by flak from an Italian ship while on flight Kaphallonia to Korfu. Ff Ofw Willi Gerwins and B Ofw Theodor Harings are shown as missing which is changed to 'gefallen' in the amendments dated 4-10-43,

Re: losses over the Aegean
Brian and Andreas,
Thank you. But what about the losses in Prevesa? I never heard about a "Fliegerhorst See" at this town. Which unit could that be? Not a thing is mentioned in QM's returns about this incident. Byron |
