Artwork on KG27 He111Ps during the Polish Campaign or later?
Hello,
There are at least a couple of dozen different He111Ps from KG27 that carried chalked-on artwork and some later, more permanent images, on the sides of the fuselages and on the vertical tail surfaces beginning sometime in the late-summer of 1939 and into the fall. For the purposes of correct profiling, it is extremely important to determine if some or many of these were applied before or during the Polish Campaign of 09.39. If not then, it appears that at least some of them were applied immediately after the end of the campaign due to the version of the wing markings visible on some photos that was changed about mid-October 1939, for better visibility. Does anyone have any photos showing KG27 He111Ps that had personal artwork applied either before or during the PC (identified through captions or context). Or can you point me to any source, such as a specific reference or photo in the Walter Waiss books (which I have) that might settle this issue? Regards, |

Ed,
Yes, I have them. I'm not aware that they answer my question, however. Regards, |
