No info on the other guy. I suspect, that he was not flying personnel.

All right Matti,

but on the picture he looks like one.
Maybe is possible to identify the followig one, pilot of a Trsp.Geschw.

Still no info even on that guy. Now I am starting to think, that both were killed on ground. I have only very few of these losses in my database.

Re: Pilots identifecation

I believe the card for Franz Schmid says he is buried at Saloniki which as Matti says suggestd he may have been killed on the ground. GQM lists have several aircrew casaulties due to bombing at Saloniki-Sedes on the 24th June but no one of his name. If he was not aircrew could he have been a groundcrewman who sometimes flew as a Bf or Bs. His card just says he belonged to a Luftwaffe Unit rather than being a KG, JG or TG man. Would the term Gefallen rather than a Fliers Death support that he was groundcrew. I believe II and IV/LG1 were operating from Saloniki-Sedes in this period. Sometimes these cards have the date when the death notification came through rather than the actual date of death.

Re: Pilots identifecation

From the photo you posted earlier of the man in flying gear it does appear that he may have been at least trained as aircrew, but like Matti, I generally haven't recorded ground casualties where the cause of injury or death is fairly certain. Then again I'm only working from the GQM loss data, FB & published sources.
