Ju 88 overturned on landing 11.03.1943 at Villa Sud
 

Hi guys,

Searching for further information on the crash of Oblt. Ellenberg's Ju 88 which overturned at Villa Sud on the 11th March 1943. Aircraft & crew were from 1./(F)123. Any further info regarding aircraft would be really appreciated.

Hello Melvin,

Some accidents having the smell of these damages are reported for F123, but for 1942, I doubt the damages were lower than 10 % , but who knows..

Rollschaden would indicate a taxiing accident versus overturning.

I couldn't remeber the term before, but Überschlag is the term for overturning I believe.

Aircraft is Ju 88 D-1 but I think date is suspect. Look at left aileron. Its same type as usually fitted to Ju 88 G-1 / G-6 night fighters. These came into service in 1944, but the D-1 was out of production, so might have been in repair (yet un-re-delivered and damage likely under 10%). Rollschaden usually translates as taxying accident.
