USAAF Pilot Recovered & Returned Home
 

Already posted elsewhere but worth reposting.

In September 2011 the crash site of P-51C 42-103007 was excavated by the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group resulting in the discovery of the body of 2nd Lt Charles R. Moritz. Until they found his remains they had thought they were excavating 42-103036 flown by Robert H. Magnuson which had been lost in a mid-air collision with 2nd Lt Moritz's aircraft on the 7th June 1944 near Market Rasen.

His remains have now been returned to his home town for burial.
