Information on B-26, Tail Number 322322

Looking for information on a US Army Air Force B-26 with tail Number 322322 and UD 6 on its side. The pilot was Wyatt Coke but would like to find out the names of his WWII crew, what the UD 6 stands for and whatever happened to the Aircraft.
Any information or where I might be able to find some would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Information on B-26, Tail Number 322322

Douglas Invader A-26B-15-DT 43-22322

Possibly
D6*U (port side) & U*D6 ( starboard side )
D6 code for 642nd Bomb Squadron, U aircraft letter within the squadron,
Part of 409th Bomb Group ( yellow stripe on the trailing edge of the rudder )
97th Combat Bombardment Wing
9th Air Force

409th BG began training on the Invader in late November - early December 1944
when at A-48 Bretigny. Moved to A-70 Laon on Feb 15, 1945.

You can ask for the individual aircraft record card of 43-22322

I was told it was a B-26 but also that Wyatt also had flown A-26's, thanks for the clarification. Where did you find it?
I have sent an inquiry to the web site you provided and anxious to hear if they have any additional info.

Find 43-223

At the end of WWII, all? the surviving Martin B-26 Marauder were scrapped. In 1947, the now Independent Air Force dropped the "Attack" category, and the A-26 Invader became the B-26 Invader. Hence some possible confusion afterward.

His tail # didn't show up on any of the lists so it must have servived the war and was scraped later. Wyatt also flew the A-20's doing what I don't know.

He like so many never talked about his experiences and thankfully web sites like this are available to obtain some information that otherwise would be lost forever.

Thanks

I talked to his son who had never heard of the accidents, but yes it is the same guy. I misspelled his name Wyatt instead of Wyatte and his middle initial is P.

Thanks for the info.

Tom
