B-24 loss on 3 December 1944, Holland
Can anyone point me to a B-24 lost near Venlo, Holland on the above date? I have a report of a German pilot attacking a Liberator which was flying apart from a larger formation and shooting it down. He saw three men bail out.
Trouble is that according to my reference sources 8th AF wasn't operating that day and 9th AF bombers were grounded by bad weather. Nor does there seem to be a relevant MACR (although in that location the wreck and survivors may well have fallen behind Allied lines). I'm beginning to wonder if it was mistaken identity (some other twin-finned machine perhaps). |

Nick,
About 6 years ago I have done some research about this case. Send me your email address and I send you the information as published in our magazine in December 2006. It is translated by me in English. Jaap Woortman Studygroup Airwar 1939-1945 |
