Identity of Cierva (Focke Wulf) C-19?
 

At eBay here is a photo of what I think is a Cierva C-19 (perhaps Focke-Wulf C-19) autogiro. I am aware that this was produced in a number of nations and flew pretty much throughout the world. There are no codes visible on this photo, so no obvious solution to the nation of use. But there is an emblem. This may not be an easy one, but can anyone offer further information on this one.

The picture may have been taken in the USA. I would expect to see D-XXXX if in Germany, G-XXX Great Britain, etc..

Thanks, I think that you are probably right with the US as the source of the photo. Other photos from this seller were clearly taken in the US, but they do include aircraft from all over the world, including a Dornier Wal in German markings, and a Soviet TB3, so still not sure about the origins of this particular C-19.

This is not a Cierva C.19 Mk IV at all. You are "fooled" by one of the rotor blades hanging down and obscuring the correct shape of the fin.

This is a Pitcairn PCA-2. Unfortunately the pic is not very good so it is not possible to read the NC number.

Almost fooled me too. Incredible how the rotorblade is following the shape of the Mk IV. I wonder if this was an intentional design feature of the the British model?

Pitcairn Aircraft Factory was located in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania (USA).
Pennsylvania is known as the Keystone State (the emblem on your original photo is a Keystone). It might be the Pitcairn aircraft logo or an aircraft owned/used by Pennsylvania.
