Ed,
great and very interesting as ever. Of special note is that one http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI....m=130700584934 In the center of the photograph one can see "Herr Meier" (Göring) during an airfield visit. :) Horrido Norbert |
Re: Photos 5-21-12
Hello,
Has anyone got an opinion as to the identity of the Bf109E with the markings <I-+- in the background? Haven't seen that combination of staff markings before that I can remember. Regards, |
That 109E...
Ed, thank you, as ever, for finding and posting these links. It's always a treat.
Larry, It reminds me of Bf 109E-1 WNr.5375 of the Stab/JG 53, which was photographed at La Villiaze, Guernsey. It was lost 5.Sept. 1940 while being flown by Hptm. Wilhelm Meyerweissflog, a 51 year old Stabsoffizer. P.o.W. near Monkton near Manston. References: Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (microfilm roll #2)-Vol.3; Prien, et al, Die Jagdfliegerverbände, IV.2, p.184; Prien, JG 53, I (2nd), p.198; SAM 7.5, Feb. 85, Payne, p. 314-5 dwg & photo. Bf 109 into Battle, Payne, rear cover color plate. Hope this helps, GRM |
