Erg. JG 53 or what?

Hi gents,

This picture is not alone; I (we) got it on Ebay times ago. Last time we got similar pictures coming from a photo album with some caption like "La Rostelle" (for La Rochelle ?) and Erg. JG 53 ...
But this point behind the cross is amazing. And since Erg. JG 3 was in St. Jean d'Angely/Fontenay during the same period, with Erg. JG 53, since one Staffel of Erg. JG 3 became 7./JG 5; I just wonder:
1/ 7./ JG 5 got available planes here around, including from Erg. JG 53.
2/ Planes got III.(7)/ JG 5 markings before removing former unit identification ...

Please, I'll be glad to have some comments and thoughts about this. Thank you for your help.

Regards, Franck.

Hi franck.

Wich time frame are we talking about? ErgGr/JG 3 moved to Esbjerg/DK autum 1941. And from here 1. Staffel moved to Norway as 7/JG 5.

Hello Junker,

Ah ... Good question!
Let's do it simply: Forget my text ... Here is my question:
What are these Bf 109s with JG 53 emblems and "Looks like" III./JG 5 markings?
After all we don't care when and where.

BUT what we care is that one wrote Erg JG 53, "La Rostelle" (doesn't exist). So (or) did one Erg. JG 53 Staffel wore a circle behind the cross?

When and Where can follow after ...

Re: Erg. JG 53 or what?

.... Hummm

I wrote St. Jean d'Angely/Fontenay but maybe St. Jean d'Angely/Fontenet, should be better since Fontenay is not in the same area, but not that far.
And From Fontenet to Laleu there is 5Okm, rough, by bird flight.
Distance I flew, weekly, for one year. ie you take off from one, you can see the other field ...

One name, Hans Hesse. (Heinrich ?) and one date 1941. Heinrich "Hans"(?) Hesse finished his life in JG 53.

Tschüss, Franck.
