A ?? For Don Caldwell...

Guys:

I am finishing off Don's latest book, "Day Fighter Defense of the Reich"; So I have to ask if he has any projects that he's working on/planning on working on.

Thanks ahead of time;

How did you like book? I was about to order it myself.

I like it; it's very detailed (Every mission flown by the 8th & the 15th strategic air forces is detailed) & it has answered lots of my 'order of battle/when did they reequip/where were they located' that I had over time. And the maps & tables help a person keep track of who is in charge of what & where it is. Also plenty of unit/mission/personal reports as well.

Nick,
If I may make a slight correction, it is actually all 8th and 15th AF missions in which contact was made by Axis aircraft.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Thanks Frank; so does Don have any new projects he's working on?

Hi Nick --

Thank Frank for letting me know about your message -- I'm doing well just to remember to check my PM box when I log on, and don't usually look at this section. Day Fighters seems to please most folks who've seen it, but getting reviews posted -- a must for this expensive book -- has been difficult. Neither the UK publisher nor the US distributor want to waste "free" copies on reviewers. And we wonder why the publishing industry is cratering. If anyone out there has bought the book from Amazon UK or Amazon US and would like to post a favorable review there, I'd appreciate it.

WRT future projects, I'm thinking about two -- both RLV related -- but have no contracts yet. I need to talk to the Day Fighters publisher, who went on sabbatical before the book was printed and has not yet returned.

Horrido!

Don

Hmm, but are reviewers who get their copies free and expect to get free copies in the future as well going to be completely unbiased in their reviews?

Hello Jukka --

You have a point, but I like to think that reviewers can't be bought with a free book. They have their reputations to protect. Since neither publishers nor I can afford paid ads, I usually rely on word-of-mouth to advertise my books, but this one is above most customers' sticking point on price, and I'm hoping for some outside recommendations to get enough books "out there" that sales can start to accelerate.

The two or so amazon.com reviews so far have been most favourable!
