341 Squadron 27-8-1943 Mouchotte and Magrot

On 27-8-1943 341 Squadron lost pilots René Mouchotte and Pierre Magrot over NW France.
One of the Spitfires they flew was MH417 and I believe there was (or still is?) a discussion whether Mouchotte or Magrot was the pilot of this a/c.
Mouchotte evidently went down over sea (he washed ashore at Middelkerke, Belgium), while Magrot came down at Houdain, still some 80 kms from Calais.

Aside from the (un)settled MH417 pilot question, what is the identity of the second Spitfire?

Regards,

Leendert

Re: 341 Squadron 27-8-1943 Mouchotte and Magrot

Hi there,

If it helps any, I have MH417 as Mouchotte's aircraft on my listing.
Like yourself, I don't have a serial for the one Magrot was flying.

According to Don Caldwell's JG 26 War Diary, Radener and Mayer of 6/JG 26 shot them down. I have Mouchotte attributed to Radener and Magrot attributed to Mayer.

That probably doesn't help you overly much but I believe this forum's all about helping each other where we can...
