Oberstleutnant Georg Dorffel .
 

I have just returned from a family holiday to Italy . While there I visited the German War Cemetary in Pomezia as I wanted to visit the grave of Georg Dorffel . Much to my surprise I learnt that Georg Dorffel's grave is unknown , I spoke to some members of the Bundeswehr who were working there at the time and they were so helpful . The grave is listed in Block U but there is no grave number . I found it strange that such a high ranking officer would be buried in a unmarked grave . Can anybody add to this ? Thanks
