FF Uffz. Michael Lanzinger, what unit?
Hello!
I am searching information concerning the loss of Uffz. Michael Lanzinger, who was a pilot in a flying unit. His plane crashed on the 16. of June 1944, killing Lanzinger. He is not mentioned in VDK I have attached a scan. Does anyone know more about this pilot and the circumstance on his death? Thanks in advance, Christian |

Thank you very much Matti. I have had him for a number of years and was never able to find him anywhere.

Re: FF Uffz. Michael Lanzinger, what unit?
Well Matti
Playing the Devils Advocate again I checked the Avions Le Caudron Goeland and they differ by saying the unit was LN Schule 4, adding the code CH+UP The French shortform for the accident is panne d'essence which fits very well. They also list the true c/n as 906/9642 and the delivery date to Luftwaffe as 10 Dec 1942. Any comment regarding the unit? Cheers Stig |
Re: FF Uffz. Michael Lanzinger, what unit?
The LEMB SKZ db says Ln.Schule 4 as well. There was a list of all the known SKZ for the C 445 published in an issue of the LW Verband as well as the Avions title. Since there doesn't appear to a corresponding loss in the Schulen lists, isn't it likely that the machine was with Ln.Schule 4, then later transferred to Ln.Schule 5?

Michael Lanzinger must have been texting while flying instead of keeping his eye on the gas gauge.
